Minutes after 4am on Friday June 23rd, the OFD was alerted to a motor vehicle fire in the area of State St. & Academy Pl. Shortly after the initial dispatch, the run was upgraded to a General Alarm (Box 6-6) indicating the vehicle was up against a structure creating possible impingement. Units would arrive to a fully involved vehicle fire and another vehicle beginning to catch with extension into the multi-unit dwelling.
Chief Scarduzio requested the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department FASTeam to the scene with the potential of this becoming a larger incident. Hose lines were quickly deployed knocking down the bulk of the fire. The fire did have slight extension into the building causing damage to two residential units and the first floor business. The Westchested County DES Cause & Origin Team was requested to determine the cause of the incident. Along with the C&O Team, the Westchester County PD Arson K-9 (Acorn) was on scene assisting with the investigation.
The Red Cross was requested to assist the occupants of the affected residential units. The last Ossining units would clear the scene shortly after 6:30am.
